We are moving so fast, sometimes it's hard to keep up with our own idea of who we are.

Adding these wonderful bells and whistles is amazing, and we'll continue to press on.

But the real juice is in how we’re rethinking every single aspect of our platform, given all this tech potential that just keeps oozing.

It feels like playing tennis on a moving train. Not that I've ever played tennis on a moving train, but you get the picture. 😀

We’re enabling GPT-4.1 Mini, Multilingual Excel Files, Target-Based Log Files, a smarter Zendesk connector, and auto-fixing of Tags in Translation Memories.

This month, we’ve delivered breathtaking improvements literally, we ran out of breath while developing them for you.

JK, we are tireless, and Bureau Works is unstoppable!

And without further ado... here are our April updates.

Multilingual Excel Files on Wheels!

Sometimes, it's so convenient to have all of your translations neatly assembled into a single spreadsheet.

And it's even more convenient if there's no copying and pasting required. Our extended support for Multilingual Excel Files does just that.

One file in with the source in a single column and one file out, precisely populated with translations, each in their corresponding column.

Less copying and pasting means more time for focused work on higher-value translation tasks.

Evolving the Post-editing Science: Target Based Logfiles are on!

We've expanded our post-editingn analytics capabilities. We already provide logfiles via pre-analysis, post-analysis, and edit coefficients, but now we've added measurement by target words.

You can request Bureau Works to analyze files based on source or target content, giving you extra flexibility in how you assess completed work and measure project metrics.

Now Powered by OpenAI 4.1-mini

The best aspect about our AI strategy is that we do not rely on training and tuning models.

Not only is this amazing to avoid model dirft, poisoning and adversarial attacks, but it's also wonderful in another aspect.

We can switch seamlessly to the latest and greatest model.

That’s exactly what just happened.

Bureau Works now supports OpenAI 4.1-mini, the newest, sleekest model (because honestly, keeping track of these names is a full-time job).

It’s lightweight, efficient, and gets the job done, especially when it comes to speeding up pre-translation and enabling smarter, more scalable bulk operations.

Save Projects Straight to Google Drive

Now, translated files delivered to Bureau Works, no matter where they came from, an be automatically saved into existing Google Drive directories.

It’s a smoother ride for your file delivery process, with less manual work and more automation.

Our Zendesk Connector Got Smarter

Zendesk says “pt-br,” we say “Portuguese (Brazil),” and until now, someone had to play matchmaker. Not anymore.

Our new language mapping takes care of that behind the scenes, linking simplified Zendesk codes.

Translation Memories with Auto-Fix Tags

What about improvements to help you better leverage your legacy content, yes, all those TM suggestions you’ve been reusing for years.

Well, good news: our Translation Memory just got smarter. It now does its best to automatically fix tag order issues right from the memory itself.

That means cleaner suggestions, less manual fixing.

What’s New

We are finalists again at the LocWorld Process Innovation Challenge. 4 contests. 4 finals!

This whole Gen AI thing really isn’t truly compatible with the old way of translating.

The entire premise of localization tooling is structured around relational databases and while they still have their value, we’re moving into a world where relational databases still have value but are, for the most part, increasingly mismatched with the demands of modern, AI-native localization workflows..

We have huge respect for the incredible canon our peers have built over the past 40 years or so, but we don’t want to be stuck retrofitting new concepts into old building blocks.

The Free Flow Editor brings these two worlds together. It can leverage past knowledge, help users detect errors, guide the translation process, and deliver incredible productivity in a vector-driven world.

It’s not just really cool. It’s truly a game changer, and it’s available to you in our production environment this year.

Where does your translation program land on the Translation Software Maturity Scale?

At GALA Montreal, Gabriel Fairman broke down the 5 levels, from manual chaos to full digital transformation, and why most agencies are stuck in Levels 1–3.

For Agencies and Translators – Survey on AI and the Translation Economy

We're running a quick but fundamental survey about how AI and the economy are affecting the translation industry.

We’re asking translators and agencies to share what you’re seeing, challenges, changes, and opportunities.

It only takes a few minutes, and your answers stay private. When it’s done, we’ll send you the full report for free.
